The photo was taken the evening of the day Rodney had been laid to rest, after everyone had gone home and the family were alone. His widow loved the photo of them walking through the graveyard, wanted her and their boys in it as well as Rodneys' Classic Car, the road and trees how they were. Everything else she left up to me as to what was put in it. I chose wheat fields ripening because he was a farmer and thats how the fields would have been when he died. I changed the lighting to just coming up on the golden hour, enough light to enhance but not overpower, and the car parked at an angle so it was more noticeable. It was a joy to paint, one of my favorite commissions so far!
